An even more leafy type when used for later sowings.

The plant has feathery leaves with a centred flower stalk. Tender round leaves make a delicious flavour in salsa and Mexican cooking. Traditionally the seeds are used in curries and in chutneys.
WHEN TO SOW
April to June.
WHERE TO SOW
The site should have full sun. The soil ideally should be rich and light. Sow into shallow drills or broadcast in open ground. Cover with soil and water well.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Thin out the seedlings as they grow to a final spacing of 25cm.
MATURITY
June to September.
HARVEST
Leaves can be picked anytime. Seeds should be collected once they turn brown but before they drop. Roots can be dug up in the autumn.
HANDY TIP
Make both an early and late sowing to ensure continuity of leaf supply throughout the summer. Plants can be left to bolt and seed harvested for cooking. Add a subtle perfume to your home, bathroom or office by making a pot-pourri: mixing the seeds to rosemary, cloves, rose petals and lavender.
